On Great Bay Beach

On Great Bay Beach

This morning we checked out of Holland House and spent a couple of very relaxing hours on Great Bay Beach. Holland House provided us with chairs and an umbrella. There were no cruise ships in, so we had Philipsburg to ourselves. We've never done Great Bay Beach before, but it was very relaxing. The water was perfect for floating on our Swimways. I toasted my back and the backs of my legs. This is the way a beach experience was meant to be.

By the way, the west half of Great Bay Beach is completely closed, pending the extension of the Promenade.

And, as a footnote, I noticed a number of ladies topless on Great Bay Beach this year. I had always thought this was a tops-required beach....

Then we picked up our yellow rental Jeep. Now this is a nice rental vehicle! And the service was great, too. After three years of bopping from one rental company to another, I can say I'll use this one from now on:

And then, once again, I immersed myself in the cosmic experience that is driving on this island (you can read about it here). We bought groceries and headed to Oyster Bay Beach Resort, our home for the next week.

Lunch today was at Mr. Busby's, our favorite place on Dawn Beach. We had the cheeseburgers (in Paradise) and the world's greatest potato salad (or darn near). As remembered, they did not have real ice tea, so we settled for water. We did not see any little mice in between the planks of the decking this time.

Tomorrow we plan to make a circuit of the some of the beaches that we haven't visited before.
