If you've read any of my albums, you know food, and eating food, is a big part of any trip.

Until this year, our favorite place was that jewel of Miami Beach: Wolfie's. But, as recounted in last year's album, Wolfie's is gone. The old man died, and the children couldn't wait to pillage his legacy and cash in on the property. We walked by, and the sad picture is to the right.

We ate at Big Pink after arriving on Saturday. This place is great. You can see more in last year's album at this link (includes menu) and here.

Looking for new places to eat, we tried Jerry's, a few blocks south of Wolfie's last resting place. This is a corporate-owned chain, not as good or as authentic as Wolfie's, but worth recommending. The faux Art Deco interior is nicely done. Click on the Jerry's picture on the right for a short slide show of the Jerry's interior.

Lincoln Road has tons of gourmet restaurants, many with outdoor seating. Sushi is big there, but Judi doesn't eat raw seafood. We ate at the Nexxt Cafe (two x's -- I mean, with one x it would be just another restaurant, right?) on Wednesday. The weather was warmer, so we sat outside and watched the usual startling variety of Miami Beach residents pass by. You haven't lived until you've seen a teenager -- baggy skater shorts, no shirt, tatooed arms -- go skateboarding by, wearing on his head not a stocking cap, but an Orthodox skullcap. Miami Beach is more entertaining than a salt-water aquarium, and Nexxt is worth recommending.
