Friday
Miami Beach, March 2002

Our Streetcorner
Our Streetcorner
Loews, Across the Street From the Streetcorner
Loews, Across the Street From the Streetcorner

Having shopped on Thursday, Friday meant back to the beach. We did some pretty aggressive toasting, and then rode our bikes back down to Big Pink for lunch. Being experienced now, we ordered the Cheese Fries and split a Big Pink House Salad. With the two of us working on one appetizer and one salad we were almost able to finish it. But not quite.

At the table behind me a lady had ordered the same steak salad that Judi had had before (remember serving platter piled seven inches high). Judi watched as it was delivered, and was delighted by the shocked expression on the woman's face. I turned around a minute or so later, and she still looked as though she'd been blindsided by a hockey stick.

That was a seriously big salad.

On this day, however, the service was really crappy.

Earlier, on Tuesday evening, we had sat outside a corner cafe/bar and watched the people go by. Some really unusual people go by in Miami Beach. So, on this Friday, we went back and sat and sipped a good Chardonnay while I quietly took pictures of some of the unusual people. Since I'm not very good at surreptitious photography, I missed a lot of the best shots, but for a gallery of what I did get, you can click here.
