I guess most people think of partying during the evening in Miami Beach, but that's down at the southern end of South Beach. Around 21st, where we stayed, things are more laid back. We usually started with a drink or two by the pool at our Days Inn. The pool was quiet and soothing. The Moon was beautiful in the sky every evening, rising out of the ocean. Later, we might wander down to the Shelbourne, or Loews. The Shelbourne had a very beautiful pool, with a convenient bar. We'd been there on earlier trips. Unfortunately, on this trip the bartender at the pool bar was a trainee who didn't know how to make very many drinks....<g> Loews has an elegant Palm Tree Promenade that has to be walked to be believed. At the end of each evening, we dropped by a small bar near the Days Inn to play pool. This bar was always quiet -- usually empty, in fact -- so we never had a problem getting a table. During our entire stay, Judi won every game of pool except one.
